Setting Up Your Account

  1. You will receive an email similar to the screenshot below. This is your welcome email to activate your account. Click “Activate Lastpass”. <!— image: image (from original wiki uploads) —>
  2. Go through the account activation steps including setting up your master password. Note the account activation code from the email. Please note the password requirements for the master password. <!— image: image (from original wiki uploads) —>
  3. Once your account is activated, you will be directed to download the extension for your preferred browser. From there you will be required to setup 2FA for security purposes.

Installing the Browser Extension & Setup Multifactor Authentication

  1. Go to your browsers extension store and find the “LastPass: Free Password Manager”. Note that the Offered By text should be LastPass. Note, if you are logged into the Roche VPN, we recommend logging off. The VPN has been known to drop the download of the extension. <!— image: image (from original wiki uploads) —>
  2. Make sure to click add extension and confirm the extension name is “LastPass: Free Password Manager”. <!— image: image (from original wiki uploads) —>
  3. Once the extension is installed, you will be prompted to log in. Please use your username and master password you setup to login <!— image: image (from original wiki uploads) —>
  4. The next step is to setup the required multifactor authentication. The recommendation is to use the LastPass Authenticator App as this app provides push notification from the app on your phone making it the more user friendly option. Feel free to use other options such as Google Authenticator if that is what you prefer. This guide will focus on setting up LastPass Authenticator. <!— image: image (from original wiki uploads) —>
  5. Under LastPass Authenticator, click the Enable Now button to get started <!— image: image (from original wiki uploads) —>
  6. As a security requirement, you will be asked to enter your master password one more time to validate ownership of the account. <!— image: image (from original wiki uploads) —>
  7. On the next screen, click on the link “Click here to enroll your device with LastPass Authenticator”. <!— image: image (from original wiki uploads) —>
  8. Download the LastPass Authenticator App to your phone. Once the download is complete, click next. <!— image: image (from original wiki uploads) —>
  9. Open the authenticator app and select Scan QR Code and scan the QR code being shown to you. Note that the QR Code in the screenshot below has been obfuscated, hence the one you see on your screen may look slightly different. <!— image: image (from original wiki uploads) —>
  10. Setup your backup security code by using your mobile phone number. In case the Authenticator app ever has issues, you can use SMS with you mobile phone to gain access. This option will be the primary means of sharing the code and will only be used as a backup if needed. <!— image: image (from original wiki uploads) —>
  11. Next, click activate and you are all done.
  12. Don’t forget to allow notifications for your phone if you are using the Authenticator app. This ensures you are notified of login codes through push notifications making it easier to authenticate. <!— image: image (from original wiki uploads) —>
